Biography

My name is Phurbu Dorjee and l come from Mustang village in a part of Nepal that juts into my homeland Tibet.  My father is Karma and my mother’s name is Bhuti.  I have two sisters and two brothers. My father is a porter in the Himalayas and my mother looks after our two cows.  I am the lucky child in the family as my mother brought me here to BCH when l was eight years old so that I could go to school and learn the Bon tradition.  There is no school for Bon children where l live and most children leave school at eleven years old.  I am studying in class three and now I have made friends at BCH.  I like Tibetan subject best at school.

The ´Love a Child´ Foundation is a non-profit makeing organisation helping to provide boarding facilities and schooling for poor and needy children, most are orphans or semi-orphans. They receive a full education and accommodation in an environment which preserves their cultural heritage. The Charity has a board of trustees and publishes an annual report and accounts in the spring of each year.
