Biography

We would like to introduce you to Josseline, she was contacted by JUCONI team while she was working in the streets cleaning windscreens with her siblings. They carry out this activity in the afternoons for 8-10 hours every day.
Obviously so much street work means Josseline isn’t able to go to school. Her family struggled to be able to pay the modest costs associated with school and she had to leave to help support her family.
She and her family live in a slum area beyond the outskirts of the city of Guayaquil that  has no basic services such as water or sewage system, making the conditions not only uncomfortable but also a health risk.
With your sponsorship we will work to turn Josseline’s life around and that of her family so that she can be guaranteed to finish her education and thereby have the chance for a life away from the streets. We will provide intensive family, school and community based services to Josseline and her family and your sponsorship provides the key piece to the jigsaw by  covering the financial costs of her education:  the cost of the uniforms, books and other school materials as well as the regular sums which students are required to contribute to the schools which themselves often don’t have the resources they need.
In addition your sponsorship will provide a cushion to the family’s economic  situation through providing a monthly food basket consisting of low cost but highly nutrious foods. The benefits of this basket are various. To begin with they mean we can reduce and then stop the income which Josseline brings into the family through her street work without the famiy being unable to feed itself at all.  These food baskets also provide an opportunity to impact upon the nutrition of the whole family and to re-educate them as to how to eat healthily at low cost. The family are taught how to cook with the soya, quinoa, grains and other high nutrition level food stuffs in the food basket so that by the time they are independent of our and your help they can feed themselves at low cost whilst maintaining adequate nutrition. Your sponorship also means we can support Josseline and the family with medical treatments or medicines which are not free and this can mean relatively low cost medicines which are literally life saving for some sickness.  We will also use any money left over from your sponsorship to contribute for Josseline to be able to attend community groups, educational outings etc. so that she can become more fully a part of her own community rather than the “street community” which she is currently a part of.
All children who are sponsored know that they are being supported by someone and if you would like to send a message to Josseline  you are very welcome to do so through Love A Child Foundation.
